Cocking Lime Works

Posted in Urban Exporlation on July 30th, 2009 by Jonathan

I have just added 6 new images to the Forgotten Britain gallery. Over the next few weeks I aim to fill in most of the missing caps on my website so expect a few updates a week.

These are 6 images from my trip to the Cocking Lime Works back in September 2008.

New images added to Forgotten Britian

Posted in Urban Exporlation on July 26th, 2009 by Jonathan

I have managed a little editing this week which has allowed mr webmaster to download 12 images into my Forgotten Britain section of my website. The idea behind this section is to show images of places that are either run down and forgotten or places that you are not normally allowed into.

View the gallery here

Thanks to Wayne for all of his work on what is a huge on going editing project of my photographic vault

The Golden Hour

Posted in Techniques on July 25th, 2009 by Jonathan

No Simon Bates hasn’t made a return to Radio 1 with his Golden Hour, it’s an online calculator for knowing when the “Golden Hour” for sunrise and sunset is any where in the world. Most of my photography buddies will enjoy this, infact if your a keen amateur you try to use this time more.

Let’s not stop there it also tells you the angle that the sun will be rising from, some of you out might not have noticed that sun rises and sets in different locations at different times of the year. The difference between the angle of the sun in the winter compared to the summer is huge.

You can view the golden hour Compass here

You could always carry around a sun compass, this is a handy device if you the sun isn’t in the right place and you plan to make a return visit at a different time of the year when the sun is in the right place.

Sunday 19th July 2009 saw the first “Sound Mirrors Open Day” and hopefully this won’t be the last. I want to say a big thank you to Owen and his team at the Romney Marsh Countryside Project for organising this event which allowed visitors an all day access to the site.

I was joined by Wayne, Pete & Simon
